What you're seeing. Each chart is the full annual time-series (1980–2025) for one indicator. The arrow shows the direction of the long-term trend.
Sections.Wetland condition is the wetland's own state: its water, vegetation and waterbirds. The site's condition trend is graded from this section. Climate and catchment drivers are context only. They never decide the trend. Threats are pressures such as fire. They are not graded either.
Sub-headings. Inside each section, charts are grouped by theme. The tag after the theme says whether it measures the physical environment (abiotic) or living things (biotic). For example, water is abiotic but still part of wetland condition.
AU tag. A chart marked AU uses a dataset that covers Australian sites only.
Consistent axes. Every chart shares the same 1980–2025 span so series are directly comparable; gaps are years with no measurement (not zero).
Data sources. Satellite indicators from Google Earth Engine (GPM, TerraClimate, Sentinel-2, JRC/DEA surface water, and burned area from NASA MODIS MCD64A1 and VIIRS VNP64A1, burn date uncertain by less than 20 days, MODIS also less than 5 days); regional waterbird counts from the UNSW Eastern Australian Waterbird Survey and the Murray-Darling Targeted Survey.
